Pusat Penelitian Geografi Terapan turut berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan I^st International Conference on Geography and Education (ICGE)yang diselenggarakan pada Sabtu, 29 Oktober 2016 di Malang. Tema yang diangkat dalam kegiatan seminar ini adalah “Strengthening Synergy of Geography for Our Future World” dengan menghadirkan pembicara utama sebagai berikut:

5. Rajendra Prasad Shrestha, Ph.D (University of Georgia)
6. rer.nat. Simone Dandholz (United Nations University, Institute of Environment and Human Security/UNU-EHS)

Dalam paparannya, Kepala Badan Informasi Geospasial menyampaikan tantangan dan isu strategis yang dihadapi dalam implementasi kebijakan satu peta (one map policy). Dr. Priyadi Kardonono menekankan bahwa dalam impelementasi dan pengaturan kebijakan satu peta dibutuhkan keterlibatan multi pihak yaitu kementerian/lembaga, perguruan tinggi, pemerintah daerah, dan NGO.

Sementara itu, ketiga pembicara internasional yang lain menyampaikan paparannya mengenai permasalahan dan pengelolaan lingkungan, bencana dan serta peran serta informasi geografi dan teknologi sistem informasi geografi mampu berperan mengatasi hal tersebut. AdapunProf. Dr.rer.nat. Junun Sartohadi, M.Scmemberikan materi paparan dari  tema geografi fisik yaitu A Step-wise Landscape Segmentation forDetermining the Field Sampling Sitesin Land Resources Assessment.  Materi apa peran dari tema geografi manusia disampaikan oleh Prof. Dr. Ach. Fatchan, Ph.D dengan judul Indigenous Learning Model to Write Paper for StudentsIn The Subject Matter of Geography.
